Swaraj Dweep: Bioluminescence Kayaking Experience with Transfer

Description

Experience one of Swaraj Dweep's most unusual natural activities with a guided bioluminescence kayaking excursion in the pre-dawn darkness.

The experience takes place on sheltered waters and/or mangrove-lined areas around Havelock, where movement through the water can trigger flashes of natural bioluminescence produced by microscopic marine organisms. The glow can appear as blue-green sparks or trails around the moving paddle and kayak.

Current Havelock operators describe the experience as beginning around 3:00 AM, with guests reaching the launch area before paddling in darkness and returning around 5:30–6:00 AM. Some operators advertise the activity as night kayaking, while others currently operate it as a pre-sunrise departure.

The experience is dependent on natural conditions. Darker skies, suitable tides, calm water and favourable weather generally provide better opportunities to observe the glow, but bioluminescence cannot be guaranteed.

The Andaman & Nicobar Administration has also established formal safety guidelines for Night Sea Kayaking, including designated operating areas, certified operators, safety equipment and restrictions on routes and conditions.

Meeting instruction:

Guests should report 30 minutes before the scheduled activity at the designated meeting point.

Guests must wear the supplied life jacket and follow all guide and safety instructions.
