Meghalaya: Shillong Peak Sunrise Experience With Transfers

Experience the early-morning landscape of Shillong from Meghalaya's highest point on a private guided sunrise excursion with meeting-point transfers.

Shillong Peak rises to approximately 1,965 metres above sea level and is one of Shillong's most prominent viewpoints. The peak offers wide views over Shillong and the surrounding Khasi Hills when weather conditions provide clear visibility. The site also has cultural significance for the Khasi people and is associated with the deity Lei Shyllong and the sacred U Shulong tradition.

The experience begins before sunrise with a private transfer from the designated meeting point towards Upper Shillong and the Shillong Peak area. Guests arrive in time for the early-morning light, followed by a guided interpretation of the surrounding landscape, local cultural traditions and geographical importance of the peak.

Sunrise visibility is entirely weather-dependent. During periods of fog, cloud or heavy rain, the sunrise and distant landscape may not be visible. The experience therefore focuses on the early-morning mountain atmosphere as well as the possibility of sunrise views.

The Shillong Peak viewpoint is situated within an Indian Air Force radar-station area. Valid photo identification is required and security procedures apply. Photography and cameras may be restricted or prohibited at the entry area, so guests must follow the instructions of security personnel and only photograph where officially permitted.
