Meghalaya: Nokrek Hoolock Gibbon Habitat Trek with Transfers

Explore the forested landscapes of the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve through a guided habitat trek focused on Meghalaya's rich biodiversity and the natural habitat of the Hoolock gibbon.

Nokrek is a UNESCO-listed Biosphere Reserve and one of Meghalaya's most important biodiversity landscapes. Meghalaya Tourism identifies Daribokgre as a starting point for treks into Nokrek National Park and specifically notes the presence of Hoolock gibbons in the area.

The trek passes through forest and countryside sections around the Daribokgre approach before entering suitable forest habitat. Depending on trail conditions, guests may observe birdlife, butterflies, forest vegetation, wild citrus and other wildlife signs while listening for Hoolock gibbon calls.

The experience is designed as a wildlife-habitat trek rather than a guaranteed animal-sighting tour. Hoolock gibbons are wild animals and sightings depend on season, weather, forest conditions and animal movement.
