Important Notes
- Dolphin sightings are never guaranteed because these are wild animals.
- Morning departures are generally preferred; current local operator information places the common departure window around 8:00–9:30 AM.
- October–April is currently reported by local operators as the stronger dolphin-watching period because of generally calmer conditions.
- KWS's Watamu management information identifies bottlenose, humpback and spinner dolphins in the area and notes that poorly managed dolphin watching can stress or disrupt their natural behaviour.
- The experience should be sold as wildlife observation, not dolphin interaction.
- Do not advertise swimming with, feeding or touching dolphins.
- Boat routes depend on sea conditions, tides and dolphin movement.
- Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, light clothing and a camera.
- Guests prone to seasickness should consider appropriate precautions.
