  • Nairobi
  • • Walking Tours
  • • Duration 4 hour

Description

Escape Nairobi's urban environment and explore Karura Forest Reserve on a private guided walking tour combining indigenous forest, marked walking trails, wildlife observation, waterfalls and historic sites.

Karura is a 1,041-hectare urban forest reserve managed by the Kenya Forest Service. The forest contains marked walking trails, scenic waterfalls, rivers, wetlands, picnic areas and the historic Mau Mau caves. KFS also records around 200 bird species and a variety of mammals, reptiles and butterflies within the forest.

The walking route is designed around Karura's natural and cultural highlights. Guests walk through forest trails, observe birds, butterflies and monkeys where present, visit the waterfall area and explore the historic cave surroundings.

The experience is private rather than group-joining. Guests travel by private SUV from their selected Nairobi pickup point to Karura Forest and are accompanied by a guide during the walking portion.
